I think the best purchases I made in the States before I came over were my waterproof sandals and Marmot rain jacket. It is so light weight and seriously perfect for the sporadic rains that we are now having. I'm in love. Especially because I can continue walking home from school while the rest of India has to find a dry spot under a tree or overhang.
